So I just posted recently about how Joe Rogan outed Carlos Mencia for stealing jokes. Apparently this audio clip has been going around for a while now. Dane Cook stole a bunch of jokes from Louis CK:
I'm not surprised to see this now. I liked Dane Cook when he first broke out, but he quickly became unfunny to me.
I never thought he was that funny. He was much more vulgar than funny. I caught a few episodes of his comedy tour thing and didn't find it funny/interesting at all.
Comedians, except for the elite, have a shelf life. I saw Jim Gaffigan on Conan a month ago. He's still doing the same thing as when we saw him in college.
Yeah, that's definitely true. I think it just takes so long to get that many jokes right, that once you have something that works it took you several years to get to that point. So why try to work on new material when you've already got something that works.
This whole joke-stealing thing is definitely more of an issue amongst comedians for the same reason. If someone steals a joke you worked on again and again till you got it right, you'd be pissed. I mean, I didn't know that it was originally Louis C.K.'s joke, and it's not that big a difference to me.
And quit putting normal stuff in spoilers...then there's no snippet in the recent comments box! :)
