Frosty Beverages
dave submitted an ABC story about a
vitamin-enriched beer.
You've heard of energy drinks, vitamin water and light beer -- well get ready for vitamin beer that is supposed to keep you from getting a hangover.
Fred Matt, one of the brewers, says Stampede Plus is aimed at active, healthy consumers. "Essentially when you drink your alcohol, you are depleting vitamin B and what we're doing is putting vitamin B into the beer, and so you wake up the next morning and you feel a lot better," said Matt.
So, is it solid science, or a strange brew? Dr. David Robbins, an internist at Beth Israel Hospital, confirms that vitamin B is one of the nutrients depleted by alcohol consumption, but he questions the hangover claim.
You won't find the vitamins listed on the bottle of stampede plus because the FDA won't allow it, saying it would give consumers the impression that beer is good for them.
The impression that beer is good? It's already a scientifical fact.
