I thought this was pretty nifty, but I when I saw the video of the display in action, it demanded immediate posting. The future of touchscreen technology will allow you to manipulate objects on-screen like never before. This is awesome. Especially the pictures and maps features.
that is truly fantastic. future computers wouldn't have a need for a mouse, and the keyboard could be a virtual onscreen keyboards. widgets were the first thing that i saw that really changed the way i looked at computer programs, it appears that more programs like those could be the future.
minority report looks a lot more credible right now.
That's very true - they're apparently even going to be able to distinguish between different fingers touching the screen. When they do put keyboards and mice right on the screen, they will probably need to dramatically increase screen display sizes to maintain comfort level.
Ah, of course. That wouldn't have taken up much space anyways (like a laptop touchpad). So the screen just has to accomodate the extra space of a keyboard. I think some tablet PCs already have keyboards on screen, but they're small as you're meant to use a stylus to hit keys.
