Bananas!
According to
ABC local news, people filling gas at a gas station selling it at 26 cents lower than the one across the street experienced problems immediately after.
The sound of a stalled engine was all anybody was hearing after filling it up at the Rising Sun Gas and Food Mart in Crescentville. The customers had flocked there after seeing the cheap gas prices on the sign. But then they tried to drive away after filling up.
Soon customers were getting a look at the substance they were paying 2.23 a gallon for. It smelled like gasoline but appeared to have been heavily diluted with water.
The station manager says they buy gas from different distributors. This latest distributor offered it to them at two cents above cost. They thought they were getting a good deal but he says obviously not.
Police and inspectors from L&I were investigating as tanker truck operators were ordered to pump out the bad gas. Meanwhile, tow truck operators were making a killing towing away all the broken down cars and trucks.
